ALBERTA HOSTS A LIVE, OPEN CASTING CALL FOR THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW ON FEBRUARY 13

CALGARY (January 29, 2024) – In-person casting is back, again! Proper Television today announces its cross-country casting tour for the upcoming eighth season of THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW (CBC), stopping in Calgary, Alta. on Tuesday, February 13. The open call asks talented Alberta home bakers to attend with their best baked creations.

Season 8’s casting tour follows the wildly successful introduction of a hybrid in-person/online casting process for Season 7 in 2023. Last year the casting team met with hundreds of home bakers across Canada at the series’ first-ever open casting calls, including several whose eventual fate was a coveted spot in the Baking Tent.

Local bakers are asked to register on Eventbrite to attend. Attendees should bring one home-baked item that will show off their design, technique, and flavours. This item will be presented to THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW team for tasting.

While online casting remains available for those who are not able to attend in person, the open call offers one more chance to impress the casting team, plus the opportunity to meet bakers from previous seasons on site. The details of the event are:

Alberta is known for its talented Baking Tent alumni including Season 3 Winner Nataliia Shevchenko, Season 4’s Larry Harris, and Season 7’s Kathy Neiman. All bakers are welcome and encouraged to pre-register to attend on Eventbrite. There is no prior application required.

Season 8 of THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW will film in Toronto in Spring and early Summer of this year.
