ABOUT:

The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary is proud to announce in hosting their upcoming 1^st Annual Red Dress Traditional Powwow 2024 event, to be held in the City of Moohkinnstsis (Calgary). It is a special day of gathering to honor our MMIWG2S+ through our sacred ancestral songs, drums, and dance. It is also a day to create cross-cultural awareness and education, and to empower and support our women, girls, 2 spirit and gender diverse peoples.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT AFCC RED DRESS TRADTIONAL POWWOW 2024:

-           Free Entry

-          Doors open & Registration at 12:30 pm

-          Grand Entry 2pm- Sharp

-          Closing Prayer and retiring of flags at 6:55 PM

-          Front row seating is reserved for all dancers, drummers, Elders, and honored guests

-          Arts & Craft Vendors: To register, contact Mayra Majore; mmajore@afccalgary.org

-          Concession on site

-          To register for drummers/dancers email Martin Trecha; mtrecha@afccalgary.org  (include; full name, age, and dance category, and or drum group)

-          First Four Drum Groups Paid Out, must register and include (Leader Singer and four support singers).

-          Max. 30 dancers per Dance Category ( ie. Tiny Tots, Teens, Adult, Golden Age)

-          $18.00 Parking fee into the Stampede Park; Parking: Easy access from South Entrance onto Stampede Park

-          Security on site

-          No drugs and alcohol permitted

-          No pets allowed, accept service pets only.

-          Free 500 Food Snack Lunch Boxes will be served, coffee and tea will be provided

-          All Drummers/Dancers must register online no later than March 15, 2024, at 12:00 pm, at mtrecha@afccalgary.org
