The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC) stands as a cornerstone of support, connection, and cultural revitalization for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples in Calgary.

For countless individuals and families navigating urban life, AFCC provides essential services, a welcoming community based on the spirit of “Many Nations. One Family.”™, and a vital link to Indigenous culture and heritage. Running meaningful, culturally appropriate programs requires resources, and as the Urban Indigenous population in Calgary grows, so does the need for the services AFCC provides. We rely on the generosity of community supporters like you to sustain and expand our offerings. Your donation directly invests in the well-being, cultural strength, and future of Calgary’s Urban Indigenous community, helping us empower individuals, strengthen families, and enrich our city.

Why Your Donation Matters / The Impact of Your Gift

Your support directly fuels programs and services that make a tangible difference. Donations enable us to:

Foster Cultural Pride and Connection

Support workshops, language initiatives, ceremonies, land-based learning, and cultural events through programs like Honouring the Bonds, Youth Programming, and the Smudge Vow Program. ($50 could provide craft supplies for a cultural workshop).

Provide Safe and Supportive Housing

Contribute to vital housing initiatives like the Elders’ Lodge (Omahkitapioyis), the Aboriginal Housing Initiative, Bromley Place, and the development of new family housing, offering stability and culturally safe environments.

Support Our Elders and Youth

Help sustain the Kanakaatsi’nom Elders’ Drop-in Centre, provide resources for Elders living at the Lodge, and fund youth programs that offer guidance, cultural connection, and leadership opportunities. ($250 could help fund a guest speaker or Elder for a youth program).

Meet Essential Needs

Assist us in offering referrals for basic needs like food and clothing, supporting community members through the Navigation Centre, and managing critical support lines. ($100 could support a community meal, fostering connection).

Strengthen Community Well-being

Support holistic health initiatives, gender-based violence prevention efforts, Status Card clinics, and essential operational costs that keep all our programs running. ($500 could contribute significantly to essential operational costs).

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps AFCC provide lifelines, foster resilience, celebrate identity, and build a stronger, more inclusive Calgary.
