AFCC Indigenous Community Impact: Over 10,000 Essentials Distributed
The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC) is sharing a crucial metric of our frontline work: Since April 1, 2025, we have measured our profound AFCC Indigenous Community Impact by distributing over 10,000 hampers and essential items to support vulnerable members of the Indigenous community in Calgary. This statistic reflects the urgent, ongoing need for culturally safe support and the deep dedication of our Cultural Community Outreach Program and staff.
This achievement is powered by our human-first approach, where every hamper represents dignity, essential nourishment, and a vital connection for a relative in need right here in Mohkinsstsis. By providing these basic necessities, we help community members achieve a baseline of stability.
The Impact of Culturally Safe Support
Distributing over 10,000 essentials is a measurable reflection of the trust our Indigenous community places in the AFCC. This support is coordinated by our Outreach team, who connect individuals with crucial services beyond the physical items, ensuring they know where to go for help, whether it’s through our Navigation Centre or other culturally appropriate resources.
We are proud to stand as a community anchor, addressing the most immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness and vulnerability in Calgary. The demand for these services continues year-round, and your support ensures we can meet it.
