Winter Stories & Creations: A Cultural Workshop with AFCC ❄️
Embrace the Winter Season through Storytelling and Art.
The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC) invites you to join us for a special afternoon dedicated to the quiet power of the winter season. This is a time of rest, sharing deep cultural practices, and honouring the Winter Solstice and the return of the Sun (Natosiwa).
During this two-hour workshop, we will gather to share in traditional storytelling and creative expression, preparing for the next cycle with deep knowledge of the land.
Workshop Highlights
-
Traditional Storytelling: Listen to stories shared by a Blackfoot Elder (TBA) that reflect the spiritual connection of this season.
-
Silver Berry Necklace Making: Participate in a contemporary necklace workshop mixing beads and silver berry seeds—a continued tradition by artisans. This session is led by Blackfoot Knowledge Keeper Krista White.
-
Community Connection: Enjoy warm Bannock and mint tea as we connect with one another.
