Status Card Clinic
About
As a trusted source organization in collaboration with Indigenous Services Canada, AFCC assists community members in obtaining or renewing their Secure Certificate of Indian Status (Status Card) and now offers registration services under the Indian Act. This means AFCC can also help eligible individuals apply to be registered for the first time.
Goals
To help as many eligible individuals as possible obtain or renew their status cards—and now, to support new applicants in becoming registered under the Indian Act.
What to Bring
FCC assists both individuals who are already registered under the Indian Act and those applying for registration for the first time.
- If you are already registered and renewing your status card, please bring:
- Your 10-digit registration (treaty) number
- One valid piece of government-issued photo ID
- If you are applying for registration for the first time, you will need:
- One valid piece of government-issued photo ID
- A long-form birth certificate that includes parentage
- Knowledge of your family tree (e.g., parent and grandparent names, communities)
Additional documentation may be required depending on the complexity of your case.

Navigation and Support Centre Services
About
AFCC provides navigation and support services for vulnerable and unhoused community members, operating out of the Salvation Army Centre of Hope.
Goals
To act as a centralized hub connecting individuals to a network of services addressing root causes of homelessness and addiction (mental health, housing, recovery programs, employment, social services). This integrated approach improves access to resources. A key goal is integrating Indigenous ways of knowing, traditional healing practices (access to Elders, ceremonies like smudging, talking circles), and spirituality into service delivery for holistic healing.
Who it Helps
Vulnerable and unhoused individuals in Calgary, with a focus on culturally safe support for Indigenous peoples.
Why it's Important
Addresses public health and safety concerns by helping people get back on their feet. Focuses on cultural safety—creating environments where Indigenous people feel respected, safe, and free from judgment or discrimination, understanding the impacts of trauma and colonization. Collaboration ensures services are tailored to urban Indigenous needs.
Location
Salvation Army Centre of Hope, 420 9 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0R9.
