August 2026 at Kanakaa ‘tsninom (All Friends Place)
The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC) is pleased to share the August 2026 calendar for the Elder’s Drop-In Centre, also known as Kanakaa ‘tsninom or All Friends Place. We are located at 4630 16th Ave NW.
Please sign in at the Elder’s Centre upon arrival. This allows us to do our best to meet your needs as a highly valued community member.
Hours of Operation:
- Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Fridays: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Wednesdays: Closed
- Please note: The centre is also closed on Monday August 3, Tuesday August 4, and Wednesday August 5.
August Highlights & Special Events:
- Mosaic Feathers Workshop (RSVP Required): Takes place on August 25 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Space is strictly limited to 20 people total. Please RSVP by emailing rrigby@afccalgary.org to secure your spot!
Weekly Favourites & Daily Activities:
Join us for Cooking Class, Not Alone Tea Party, Bingo, and our Friday Coffee, Tea & Bannock. Afternoon programs run from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
- Mondays: “Remember When” on August 10, Cooking Class on August 17, Sweating to the Pow Wow on August 24, and “Not Alone Tea Party” on August 31.
- Tuesdays: Fairy Garden Craft on August 11, Sun Catcher Pay on August 18, and Mosaic Feathers on August 25.
- Thursdays: Kokum Scarf Hair Scrunchies on August 6, Bingo on August 13, Feast on August 20, and Beaded Lanyards on August 27.
- Fridays: Coffee, Tea & Bannock runs every Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (August 7, 14, 21, and 28).
