Inside This Issue: Highlights & Updates

A New Cultural Space: A transformative partnership with The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland is bringing a new ceremonial and cultural space to life in the heart of Calgary. This dedicated, no-cost space is a tangible symbol of reconciliation and community healing.

Encampment Support: Learn about our Encampment Support & Transitions Program (ESTP) team’s season of impact, which has helped move 16 individuals directly from encampments into housing. This culturally safe, Indigenous-led model is creating lasting change one relationship at a time.

Red Dress Powwow: We recently hosted our 2nd Annual Red Dress Traditional Powwow, a day of healing and remembrance for Missing, Murdered, and Exploited Indigenous Peoples (MMEIP). The red dresses that adorned the space stood as a solemn reminder and a powerful call to action.

Elders Lodge Anniversary: This month marks the two-year anniversary of our award-winning Omahkkitapioyis Elders Lodge Apartments. The Lodge is a place of respect, culture, and connection where Elders can live in safety and dignity.

Susan Aglukark Book Launch: The AFCC is honoured to host celebrated Inuk singer-songwriter Susan Aglukark for the Calgary launch of her new memoir, Kihiani. This is an opportunity for conversation, music, and community.
