The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC) is thrilled to celebrate a significant recognition from the Art Smith Awards 2024, where our own Terran Wilk received the Leadership Award for Collaboration. This prestigious honour was part of a powerful ceremony held on November 6th, dedicated to celebrating the individuals, front-line staff, leaders, and organizations working tirelessly to support Calgary’s most vulnerable community members and address homelessness in our city.
The inspiring event, hosted by the Calgary Homeless Foundation, was a true testament to community spirit and the power of working together. The ceremony began in a good way, grounded in cultural protocol with a Land Acknowledgment and opening Blessing offered by Knowledge Keeper Krista White Pup. The evening, which celebrated compassion and dedication, concluded with a touching closing prayer from Elder Linda Johnson.
We are incredibly proud of Terran’s achievement. This award not only highlights his outstanding efforts in partnership-building and community impact but also reflects AFCC’s deep commitment to collaborative work in supporting those in need.
