The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC) is thrilled to celebrate a significant recognition from the Art Smith Awards 2024, where our own Terran Wilk received the Leadership Award for Collaboration. This prestigious honour was part of a powerful ceremony held on November 6th, dedicated to celebrating the individuals, front-line staff, leaders, and organizations working tirelessly to support Calgary’s most vulnerable community members and address homelessness in our city.

The inspiring event, hosted by the Calgary Homeless Foundation, was a true testament to community spirit and the power of working together. The ceremony began in a good way, grounded in cultural protocol with a Land Acknowledgment and opening Blessing offered by Knowledge Keeper Krista White Pup. The evening, which celebrated compassion and dedication, concluded with a touching closing prayer from Elder Linda Johnson.

We are incredibly proud of Terran’s achievement. This award not only highlights his outstanding efforts in partnership-building and community impact but also reflects AFCC’s deep commitment to collaborative work in supporting those in need. Congratulations to Terran and all the nominees and award recipients for their invaluable contributions to our city!
