UPCOMING CLOSURES: Please note, the Status Card Clinic will be closed to the public on the following dates:

  • Thursday, July 31, through Friday, August 8, 2025 (inclusive)

AFCC Main Office & Indigenous Hub

Our downtown Indigenous Hub (iitaohkanitsini’kotsiiyio’p – “place of conversation”) is a welcoming space for community connection, cultural engagement, and direct support.

Welcome to the Kanakaa'tsinom Elder's Centre

Our Centre is a gathering space created for Indigenous Elders and Seniors. We warmly welcome all community members to join our programs in a spirit of friendship and respect.

All community members are warmly invited to the Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary’s (AFCC) 2nd Annual MMEIP (Murdered Missing Exploited Indigenous Peoples) Red Dress Traditional Powwow on Saturday, May 24, 2025!

This significant cultural event is a vital gathering dedicated to honouring the lives and spirits of MMEIP, raising awareness of this ongoing crisis, and supporting healing and empowerment within families and communities.

Event Details for Tomorrow:
  • Location: The Big Four Roadhouse, 1801 Big Four Trail SE, Calgary, AB.
  • Time: Doors Open at 12:00 PM | Grand Entry at 1:00 PM | Event Concludes at 5:00 PM.

Experience a day of profound cultural significance:

  • Witness the powerful Grand Entry at 1:00 PM.
  • Enjoy captivating performances from our Host Drum (Blackfoot Drummers) and esteemed Invited Drum Groups.
  • A special Honour Song and Dance for MMIWG2SBM will be featured (families are welcome to bring photos of loved ones).
  • Explore a vibrant Indigenous artisan market and vendor tables.
  • Concessions will be available, with food vouchers for the first 800 attendees.
  • On-site security will be present.

Admission is free, and all are welcome to join this inclusive and respectful gathering. No registration is required for dancers.
