Position
Outreach Emergency Shelter Physician – Ref. No. 20076 Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre Term | 0.2 - 0.4 FTE
Description

Family Physicians at the Shelter Medical Clinic provide walk-in and appointment-based family practice at the Calgary DropIn Centre in a non-judgmental, harm-reduction focused, holistic, and opportunistic manner. As part of the DI health services team, physicians are required to understand the social determinants of health as they pertain to this vulnerable
and underserved population, and to provide full-scope medical care with a trauma-informed and harm reduction perspective. Physicians are required to have strong skills in addiction and mental health, as well as full scope medical care in a complex shelter population. Methadone prescribing is required.
Reimbursement is via alternative-relationship plan (ARP) with booked appointments typically 30-60 minutes long; physicians are expected to participate in team-based, multidisciplinary care.

The Calgary Drop-In Centre (the DI) is more than emergency shelter. They provide essential care as well as health services,
employment training, and housing supports to people who need help. The goal of their programs and services is to connect
people to permanent housing that meets their individual needs. Rooted in community and fueled by kindness, the DI proudly serves as part of the Homeless-Serving System of Care.
